Accommodation: There is a wide range of accommodation options along the Inlandsbanan. For reservations and further information, please contact the establishments directly.
Bicycles: It is possible to take your bike onboard, depending on availability of space. Loading should be done under the guide’s supervision.
Booking your trip: Bookings and information by telephone: +46 (0)771 53 53 53 or by email: info@grandnordic.se.
Conditions of travel: We recommend that you read the terms and conditions, which you receive together with you booking confirmation. They set out the agreement between passengers and the arrangers of the trip when it comes to rights, liabilities and responsibilities.
Disabilities: On the railcars there is room for wheelchairs, though boarding and disembarking may give rise to problems. The toilets onboard are not adapted for disabled users. Please inform us when booking your trip and we will come up with a good solution together. Guide dogs for the blind travel for free.
Food and coffee breaks: We make stops for food and coffee breaks at different points along the way. The train guide takes your orders and menus are available to read in the food brochure onboard the trains.
Inland Railway bus: Part of the southern stretch is operated by bus (Nykroppa–Mora and Mora - Kristinehamn).
Inland Railway Card: Travel as much as you wish over 14 days. The card is personalised and valid on the trains and the Inland Railway buses.
Luggage: Every passenger is responsible for his or her own luggage during the trip. We recommend that you travel as lightly as possible. It is a good idea to choose a case/bag with wheels. Make sure you take waterproof shoes if you plan to go out trekking.
Parking: There are a limited number of unguarded and nonbookable parking lots at some of the stations along the Inland Railway. The prices vary from SEK 0 to 30 per 24-hour period.
Pets: Pets travel on the floor and in the ”pets permitted” section of the train. For prices, see prices
Public holidays: In Sweden Midsummer is celebrated. This means that shops and public institutions may be closed or open for just part of the day. 2010, Midsummer falls on June 25-26. Please observe that the Inland Railway trains are not in service on these days.
Railcars: This is the classic way of travelling on the Inland Railway. The railcars, which are also known as “motorcoaches”, cover almost the entire Inland Railway (see “Inland Railway buses”). You cannot go between the wagons during the journey. Instead there are plenty of eventful stops!
Seasonal dependency: Opening hours of the sights and the ability to carry out some of the activities are highly tailored to Swedish holidays between the end of June and the beginning of August. Please contact the tourist offices concerned for upto-date information.
Smoking: All railcars and buses are non-smoking areas.
Steam trains: Steam trains make return trips between Arvidsjaur and Slagnäs on Fridays and Saturdays from July 9 to August 7. For further information, please contact us by phone: +46 (0)771 53 53 53.
Timetables: Preliminary timetables can be found on the left side. Definitive timetables will be provided by Banverket (Sweden’s rail authority) in April, after which you can find them on our Web site: www.grandnordic.se.
Traffic information: The stretches Mora–Östersund–Gällivare are in operation from June 7 to August 29. The Kristinehamn–Mora stretches operate daily from June 28 to August 1. For further information see the timetables.
Train guides: Our guides onboard the train tell you about the landscape we pass, the sights worth seeing and activities worth doing. They are happy to answer your questions and help make your journey the experience you would want it to be.
Transfers: Be sure to book any transfers to and from the Inland Railway with good time margins. Trains and buses are usually on time, but delays may occur. We will gladly help out with suggestions for appropriate transfers.
