Dorotea municipality stretches from the forests in the south to the mountains in the north. The lakes, tarns, rivers and streams offer excellent fishing opportunities. Here you can experience magnificent scenery with a varied terrain, from forests and marshes to mountains, that is suitable for both short and long hikes. You can also choose alternative activities, such as horse riding, cycling or canoeing, or just enjoy the stillness of nature. It is also possible to hire a car or take the bus to visit the area’s great excursion destinations, sights and events.

Explore Dorotea
Go on a tour of Dorotea and visit the church where you can see two statues by Carl Milles. The church itself was designed by his brother, Evert Milles. Next to the church is a little chapel with a group of life-size sculptures, “Communion”, created by Björn Martinius. Right above the church lies Dorotea’s open-air museum Kullerbacken, with its historic buildings. Other sights to see in central Dorotea are the old water mill, the Dorotea Bear in Siberian larch by Lars Kupparinen, and the Dorotea Stone. Another gem not be missed is the Polar Caravan Museum.
