Art and culture, nature and untamed landscapes, sun and wonderful beaches. Värmland offers quality of life in abundance. It is easy to be inspired by the magnificent natural scenery and heritage of the area around Kristinehamn, Storfors and Filipstad. This is also the starting point for Inlandsbanan. Värmland – entertaining and inspiring. Welcome!

Kristinehamn
Its location on the shores of Lake Vänern means that Kristinehamn, the start or the end of Inlandsbanan, is a place you look forward to visiting. This charming town, set amidst the archipelago, is perfect for those looking for a relaxing break, as well as those who want a more active holiday. Island-hopping, excursions around the archipelago in the medieval-style ship Christine af Bro, top class art at Kristinehamn’s Art Museum, one of the largest Picasso sculptures in the world – these are just a few of the things you can see and do in Kristinehamn. We will give you memories to treasure long after your holiday is over.

Filipstad
Let us tempt you with a town walk in the footsteps of the poet Nils Ferlin or a visit to the silver mine Hornkullen. Find your own unique mineral on the ore heaps and learn how to pan for gold in the stream. There is a close relationship between history and wilderness in this area. The troll trail Trollstigen is a “must” for children and for adults who remain children at heart. We also recommend a walk in Brattforsheden to discover its unique nature and plants and its proximity to the old military airfield. Filipstad invites you and your family to unique events that include a fairytale festival and the motorshow Hjulhälja.

Storfors

Images in Storfors are dominated by the Bergslagsleden network of canals and natural waterways. The waterways and their 6 locks represent Bergslagsbygden’s best preserved transport routes. Badsta Camping, the canoe and adventure centre, which has its own stop on Inlandsbanan, is the obvious place to begin your exploration of Bergslagskanalen. The Bjurbäcken lock system, where a drop of 11km is negotiated via the three chambers and 3km of hand-dug canal, is the most popular destination for visitors. Sweden’s oldest boarding school, Lundsberg, and the fire service museum Värmlands Brandhistoriska Museum are worth a visit.

Highlights! Jernets Bana which will take you on a journey along the old railway on the Nora-Karlskoga-Degerfors route. Experience culture, nature, shopping and entertainment all of the highest standards at Valsverket in Degerfors, where Monica Forsberg and Hasse Andersson with guests perform in a unique setting, and elsewhere.
