In Orsa you travel through four climate zones, from the soft undulating landscape by the lakes Orsasjön and Siljan to barren wilderness with marshes and mountains to the north. Orsa is best known for Orsa Spelmän and Björnparken bear park. When the railway arrived in Orsa at the end of the 19th century, it was primarily an agricultural and forestry landscape. Today, Orsa is a flurishing community with optimism, substantial investment and a belief in the future. Welcome!

Join the bustling crowds in the streets and squares
Whether you are
a musician or simply enjoy eating, drinking, socialising and enjoying good music, you should try the crazy Orsayran musical festival in the centre of Orsa, four Wednesdays in July! Hundreds of musicians perform – free of charge – to thousands of happy people in the streets and squares. Obviously you are welcome to join in and play some music. Another cultural facility in the area is Mässbacken, a cultural heritage centre approx. 10km north-west of Orsa, which has historical trails and good food at Wärdshuset Slipstenen. You should visit Orsa church. The oldest parts of the church date from the 15th century. The cultural centre Kulturhuset hosts special exhibitions each summer which are well worth visiting and which are popular with those interested in art.

Polar World and adventures
As well as the gigantic bears, Siberian tigers, wolves, lynx and wolverines, you can also visit the amazing, new Arctic landscape Polar World with its polar bears. Why not enjoy the wonderful views, good food and coffee in Fryksås summer farms! Or visit the wild Ämån valley with Helvetesfallet waterfall and Storstupet gorge. Those looking for something more adventurous can try a trip in a gyrocopter, flying lessons or ”Ski water jump” in the town centre.

Bathing paradise and culture shopping
Just a kilometre
from the railway station, at Orsa Camping, there is a fantastic sandy beach with water activities and a well-situated beach restaurant, pools and a bowling hall. A gem for those longing for a swim! For shopping of a cultural kind we recommend the area near the station, where you will find the large antique store Kompaniet and the street Kyrkogatan with handicraft shops, a weaving workshop and an interior design store. Just a stone’s throw away is the design store ORSAK, Orsa Grafikstation and ”Hellzephyrs” – Sweden’s cosiest music shop. Add another highlight to your visit and enjoy some light refreshments at one of the three pleasant cafés in the town centre.
