Vansbro is a small municipality packed with things to see and do. There are activities for all the family, such as inspection trolleys, swimming, hiking, golf, fishing and gliding. There is a busy programme of events in the summer. Two of the largest are the air fair in Dala- Järna, and the Vansbro swimming event. You can alight from the Inlandsbanan coach in Vansbro and have a meal at one of the restaurants or a snack at the popular patisserie. You can also look at the majestic railway station building and at the listed buildings in the centre of town.
Swim Vansbro!
THERE IS A RACE suitable for everyone in the Vansbrosimningen contest which takes place between 10 and 12 July
2009. Join in the Vansbro women’s event or maybe the short race if you think that 1,000 metres is long enough, or what about the half-race of 1,500 metres if you want more of a challenge. You could try the main 3,000 metre Vansbrosimningen event or the children’s race in a swimming pool for 6–9 year olds. The world’s largest swimming competition attracts more than 8,000 competitors each year to the different races. During the three days of competition, Vansbro becomes a town full of happy swimmers and lots of swimming spectators. Elite swimmers also come along for some of the races. For example, Vansbro was the first place in Sweden to arrange the national 5km Open Water Championship and this year will be hosting this event for the third time. The Vansbro swimming competition is part of the Swedish Classic fitness circuit. Find out
